The heroine, Sara Jamison, is the only female in the Jamison family brood and they all live in their childhood home. At first glance this may be hard to swallow, but Ms. Rogers makes it believable by having the Jamison parents die while the now grown children are young and leave Uncle Luke to care for them. When a pregnant teenage Sara becomes pregnant her elder brothers, Garrett and Nicky, stay home to help raise the baby with Sara and their younger brother Danny. This allows for the author to set up the brothers for subsequent books quite nicely. The hero, Mike Andrews, returns to his hometown of Green Bay, to bury his recently dead abusive father, and sell the house he grew up in - both he hasn't seen in the 8 years since he abruptly left town. His plan is to get in and out without running into the girl that broke his heart all those years ago nor any of brothers especially the hot tempered Garrett.
The "misunderstanding" (to put it mildly) that broke up the couple in high school is believable and has enough "evidence" presented to both Mike, Sara and Garrett that it is credible to each of them, even 8 years later. But once Mike comes back and finds himself in his unchanged teenage-self's bedroom he starts to wonder.
Ethan, the seven year old son, is written quite believably as well. Some authors tend to write children a little too precocious, too young for their age, or to old. Ethan strikes the right chord of youthful, boyish enthusiasm and innocence.
The tricky part, the introduction of Ethan to the father he has never known. Even in real life a situation like this is a "crap shoot", regarding how everyone is going to take, handle and process this information. So one can't truly say, "oh that was completely unbelievable", because there's a 50/50 chance that it would have panned out that way in the real world.
The secondary storyline involves the "bad guy". I feel this implementation is kind of ingenious, because it takes two tried and true conventions of keeping couples apart, ties them together in a neat package and has it delivered by another "couple killer", the hot headed older brother/father figure.
The novel is well balanced, not too much time spent on "the secret", or "the tormented make-up", or "the dangerous situation". Each is covered, I feel, just enough; each has their own "punctuations". The sex is light and sweet and not at all heavy-handed. In fact she could have given us a little more, I mean being separated for 8 years ... there's a lot of time to make up for!
There is quite a bit of the novel spent on "Family Time" between Mike, Sara and Ethan, which some man complain as being boring, however, I feel it serves the purpose of: a.) showing Sara starting to trust Mike again and realizing she never truly stopped loving him, b.) allowing Sara to see Mike as being a loving and devoted father despite having grown up with an abusive father, and finally c.) showing Mike what a fantastic son he has and realizing how much he has missed and wanting to not waste anymore precious time.
Donna Marie Rogers did a fantastic job with "There's Only Been You", especially as a springboard onto a Jamison Family Series. I recommend this novel for the reader that prefers a little sex with their story. Definitely, a nice, light, sweet, read. I will be following the Jamison clan , I am a sucker for a series. - Charlene @ www.lightningcitybookreviews.com

Summary There’s Only Been You
Malicious lies, drugs and a videotape are the reasons young lovers Sara Jamison and Mike Andrews have spent the last eight years apart, each believing the other betrayed them. Sara has no clue where Mike's been all these years, but she knows where she's been busy raising their son. Two weeks after he accused her of cheating and disappeared from her life, Sara discovered she was something she never expected to be, an unwed pregnant teenager. But with the love and support of her annoyingly alpha-male family, she's managed to make a good life for herself and her young son. She even owns her own business, Sara's Bakery, which she's built into a thriving success. Sure, she works too hard and her social life is nonexistent, but for the most part, she is content. Until the day Detective Mike Andrews walks into her bakery and back into her life.....
Review
I don’t remember where I got the free copy of this book, but I’m so thankful for getting this book. I’ve read other books by Donna Marie Rogers and have enjoyed them; this book is the start of a series, which like each of her other books have been worth the read.
The plot and character development is complex and supremely done. The editing is superbly done, which makes the flow makes it all that much enjoyable to read.

Sara, the heroine, is a single mother who got pregnant at 18 by her high school sweetheart Mike, unbeknownst to him. Sara has a wonderfully protective, supportive and tight knit family, who came together to help her and to help raise her son. Mike left Green Bay and Sara at 18, due to a misunderstanding and made a life for himself in Chicago and coming back to Green Bay after 8 years to bury his father.
I loved Sara's family and Mike. I felt that Sara, though after finding out the cause of the misunderstanding between herself and Mike 8 years ago, seemed to wanted to remind Mike at every opportunity that it was his fault why they both were not together or a family unit.
Though this was a quick read, with a little suspense at the end which gave the story a little pep, the author could've made it shorter by cutting out a bit of Sara's whining.
All in all it was an okay read.
What can I say, I enjoyed reading this book. I couldn't put it down. Felt really genuine. The lies that kept them apart were unveiled at a reasonable time in the story. Sara was a bit whiny and selfish so I found myself skipping some of her parts. Also I don't generally like when a story does the whole "we made love a decade ago and I never forgot so I never slept with anyone else" thing. I always find this a little ridiculous, as if a person's sex drive, or basic need to be touched by another person just disappears for every woman whose ever lost their virginity to someone. I get that it's supposed to be because their like soul mates, but that never seems to stop the guy from enjoying a full satisfactory, if at times described as mediocre, love life. This nonsense needs to stop. I could forgive a couple years after her teen pregnancy or maybe if her brother's were just too overprotective or maybe even if her teen pregnancy taught her to be overly cautious about sex. But there was really no explanation for it except her remaining faithful to the memory of her teenage love/father of her child who might have beat a pregnant girl until she lost her baby. I'm no doctor, but she's still in her twenties, is no virgin, knows what it's like to desire and be desired. I refuse to believe that she wouldn't have had sex for the rest of her life if Mike never showed back up.
